Ground has been broken for a new medical center on the corner of Veterans’ Drive and Volunteer Rd., in Geneseo, across Rt. 20A from Applebees.
The medical center is being leased by Rochester Regional Health, and will bring to Geneseo at least 40 new jobs to start. The building will be about 50,000 sq. ft., and will include various medical offices, an urgent care facility, and a small surgical center. Right now, the land is being cleared and graded, with a foundation for the building starting within weeks. The building should be finished within the second half of 2021.
According to Devin Delpas, developer of the property, there are also negotiations going on for other national franchise retailers and restaurants on the mixed-use parcel. He declined to say what those businesses were, saying things could change, especially with the restaurants, and with the Covid-19 having affected a lot of business decisions in the last few months. The medical building will be Phase One of the development, with more to come
Michael Owen, Rochester Regional Health Vice President of Real Estate, Facility Planning & Construction commented: “The team at Rochester Regional Health is thrilled to bring a multi-specialty destination campus to Geneseo so local residents can have better access to a wide range of services in one convenient location. As the project progresses, we will share more information about the specific services coming here. This campus is the latest step in Rochester Regional Health’s plan to expand access to care. Over the past few years, we have opened similar multi-specialty campuses in Irondequoit, Henrietta, Webster/Penfield, and, just this past month, Geneva.”
Rochester Regional Health is Rochester’s second largest employer with about 16,000 employees. It was formed in 2014 with the joining of the Rochester General and Unity Health Systems, later also joined with United Memorial Medical center in Batavia, Newark-Wayne Hospital, Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic, and ACM Global Laboratories.
