The project is located at the corner of Veterans’ Drive and Volunteer Road, directly across Route 20A from Applebee’s. The facility will be leased by Rochester Regional Health and is expected to create at least 40 new jobs in its initial phase.
The approximately 50,000 square foot building will house multiple medical offices, an urgent care center, and a small surgical facility. Site work is currently underway, with land clearing and grading in progress. Construction of the building’s foundation is expected to begin within weeks, and the project is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2021.
Developer Devin Delpas said the medical center represents Phase One of a larger mixed-use development planned for the property. He confirmed that discussions are ongoing with several national retail and restaurant chains for future phases, though no specific businesses have been named due to uncertainties in the current market and the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.
Michael Owen, Vice President of Real Estate, Facility Planning and Construction for Rochester Regional Health, said the organization is eager to bring expanded services to the Geneseo area.
“Our team is thrilled to bring a multi-specialty destination campus to Geneseo so local residents can access a wide range of services in one convenient location,” Owen said. “As the project moves forward, we will share more details about the services planned for this campus. This development is another important step in expanding access to care.”
Rochester Regional Health is the second largest employer in the Rochester area, with approximately 16,000 employees. The organization was formed in 2014 through the merger of Rochester General and Unity Health Systems and has since expanded to include United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, Newark-Wayne Hospital, Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic, and ACM Global Laboratories.
