OurBus has announced the launch of a new daily intercity bus route connecting Geneseo with New York City, expanding regional transportation options for residents of Western and Southern New York.
The new service is being offered through a partnership with family-owned transportation company Niagara Scenic Tours and is scheduled to begin on May 12, 2021. The route will connect Geneseo with seven cities in New York State and one in Pennsylvania, including Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Batavia, Corning, Elmira, and Sayre, before continuing on to New York City.
Passengers will also have the option to connect to additional destinations across New York and New Jersey through stops at the Greater Binghamton Transportation Center in Binghamton and Bridge Plaza in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
OurBus officials said the route is designed to improve access to jobs, education, and medical services by linking smaller communities with major metropolitan areas. The company’s technology platform allows passengers to book tickets instantly, track buses in real time, and manage reservations digitally.
The route will be operated using Niagara Scenic Tours’ charter-style motorcoaches, which feature Wi-Fi, power outlets, and overhead storage. OurBus reports a customer satisfaction rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars based on feedback from more than 8,000 riders.
“OurBus believes that movement is essential to human nature,” said OurBus co-founder Axel Hellman. “As people get vaccinated, they can finally travel to see friends and family again. This route will help people reconnect while also supporting access to work and school.”
Tickets are available through the OurBus website and mobile app. The company offers flexible booking options, allowing passengers to cancel or reschedule without fees. One-way fares to New York City start at $45 and vary based on demand, while shorter trips within Western New York can cost as little as $7.
Buses to New York City will depart daily from the corner of Main Street and Center Street in Geneseo, near the village fountain, at 8:10 a.m.
Niagara Scenic Tours Vice President Hadley Bos-Fisher said the company is excited to expand its services.
“We have served the region for more than 45 years through our charter and tour operations,” Bos-Fisher said. “We are pleased to offer a daily express route that meets the transportation needs of the community.”
The service will operate under current public health guidelines, including enhanced cleaning protocols. Hand sanitizer will be available onboard, and passengers will be required to wear face coverings throughout the trip.
