A Minnesota hotel has been removed from the federal government’s approved lodging list following allegations that it refused to provide accommodations to immigration enforcement officers.
The General Services Administration announced that the Hampton Inn Lakeville has been terminated from all federal lodging and travel programs after it was determined the property violated requirements tied to hosting government employees. The decision came after internal communications showed the hotel would not allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents or other immigration officers to stay at the property.
According to federal officials, the hotel’s actions conflicted with the terms of its participation in a government lodging partnership that provides compliant accommodations for federal and military travelers. As a result, the property was immediately removed from federal booking systems, including programs used for routine, emergency, and long-term stays.
The hotel also lost its affiliation with the Hilton brand. Hilton confirmed the Lakeville location was independently owned and operated, but said it took swift action after video footage surfaced appearing to show hotel staff continuing to deny rooms to federal agents despite prior assurances that the issue had been addressed. Following the video’s release, Hilton removed the property from its branding and online systems, citing failure to meet company standards and values.
The Lakeville hotel had previously hosted federal employees on numerous occasions, including immigration officers, before the recent incident. Federal officials emphasized that hotels participating in government lodging programs are required to provide equal access to all authorized federal personnel.
The General Services Administration said it fully supports federal law enforcement agencies and will act quickly when partner properties fail to comply with program rules. The agency oversees lodging arrangements for millions of federal workers, including civilian employees and active-duty service members.
As of this week, the Hampton Inn Lakeville no longer appears on Hilton’s website or in federal travel systems, and it is no longer authorized to house government travelers.
