The Summer Youth Program at the Chip Holt Nature Center is set to return for another year! The program, which runs weekdays from 9am-12pm, starts July 5th and runs through August 16th. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Livingston County is once again providing this year’s programming.
“We are really excited to continue our involvement with the Chip Holt Nature Center,” said Youth Development Team Leader Mark Wittmeyer. “Conesus Lake and Vitale Park are extremely popular in the summer, so it’s a great opportunity to educate a large number of Livingston County youth!”
Staff will offer hands-on, nature-related activities that are ideal for children ages 5+. Previous activities include making tie-dye t-shirts, paper mache volcanoes, and homemade ice cream; visiting with tortoises; learning about animal rescue; and more! A parent/guardian must be present with youth throughout the program.
The Summer Youth Program is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
The Chip Holt Nature Center’s mission is to provide interactive educational programs and recreational opportunities for present and future generations, promote ecological stewardship for Conesus Lake and its watershed, and increase awareness and appreciation for the natural resources of the Finger Lakes.
