YORK — An electrical short in a truck almost wiped out Rose’s Enterprises and the Barn Diner.
The fire started at approximately 4 a.m. this morning and grew quickly to a three alarm call due to the numerous vehicles and oil containers in the building.
The fire started in a tri-axle Peterbilt dump truck that was in the garage, soon to be undergoing minor repairs.
“We are fotunate but unfortunate,” said Frank Rose Jr., “The truck parked inside must of have had a short in the dashboard.”
It was the talk of the town in the Barn Diner, which is attached to the front of the garage. All agreed that if the building had a wood roof the outcome would have been completely different.
“We really are lucky,” said Rose, standing in ash and water assessing the damage. “We have a front facility and can continue working.”
Owners estimate the value of the truck around $20,000 and the damage to the building and equipment inside at another $20,000.
“We just want to thank the passerby who called this in so quickly,” said an employee at the diner. “We also want to express our gratitude for the quick response from our volunteer firefighters.”
