LAKEVILLE — The word “anuva” means “a new beginning” in Sanskrit — a term that Anuva Yoga Studio owner and Livonia resident Holly Kubrich embodies.
Kubrich opened the studio February 1 after getting laid off from her job teaching health and physical education.
“I got laid off and I wanted to do something different,” she said. “I have small kids, so I wanted to stay at home with them as well, so this allows me to do everything I love, which is teach, make people healthier and happier, and be home with my kids during the day. It worked out perfectly.”
Kubrich teaches a calming form of yoga called “Vinyasa.” This particular style of yoga focuses on “flow,” or moving and breathing in sync.
Anuva Yoga Studio offers classes Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m., Thursdays from 6-7 a.m. and 6-7 p.m., and Saturdays from 7-8 a.m. Those interested in taking a class can either pay $10 at the door, or purchase a package of eight classes for $60.
The classes are open to everyone, regardless of age or skill level. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats, towels and water to each class.
The studio is located at 3506 Thomas Drive, in the second floor of the Physical Therapy Professionals building.
