About 8,000 women gathered this weekend at the Blue Cross Arena to Celebrate What Matters in the Women of Faith 2012 event.
In addition to the WOF Worship Team, special music was provided by artists Mandisa and Amy Grant.
Special speakers included Patsy Clairmont, Marilyn Meberg, and first time speaker, Elisa Morgan, former President of MOPS International. But no one touched the hearts of the women quite like Brenda Warner, wife of retired football great Kurt Warner. Brenda’s heart wrenching testimony as a former Marine whose oldest son was accidentally dropped on his head when he was 4 months old by her former husband and sustained life changing head injuries and blindness had you laughing, crying, and sitting on the edge of your chair awaiting her next words. According to Brenda, “ life is hard, really bad things happen and it can be difficult to keep going,” but she has the assurance that , “every women can survive life’s challenges by calling on Jesus.” From living in her parent’s basement collecting food stamps and going to college, losing her beloved parents in an instant in a tornado, and meeting a man who “someday hoped to play football”, her story of her unfailing faith and God’s love and faithfulness in each situation was breath taking and beautiful. Only to be culminated by her now 25 year old son taking the stage along side his mother.
