UPDATE: Geneseo Cops and Firefighters Save Cat and Malcolm the Dog from Fire
GENESEO – A fire that appears to have originated on a windowsill burned inside a house on Rorbach Lane Thursday afternoon.
According to first responders on scene, investigators are looking closely at an east facing windowsill as the origin of the fire. The fire started at about 4:17 p.m.
Firefighters put out the flames before they could spread to the rest of the house. Much of the damage was smoke and water related.
Neighbors said that the residents were on vacation in Maine. Their dog, Malcolm, was freed by first responders and calmed by neighbors.
Firefighters could only work inside the house for a few minutes at a time due to the 90-degree heat. Medics brought the firefighters water bottles as they took off their gear and rested.
Firefighters and an ambulance crew with Geneseo Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene alongside Livingston County EMS, the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management and the Geneseo Police Department.
