West Sparta Driver Dies after Christmas Eve Rollover

WEST SPARTA – A West Sparta man passed away after a rollover accident on McKay Road on Christmas Eve.

According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Cory Trybushyn, 29, was eastbound on Mckay Road and failed to negotiate a curve, causing the car to strike several small trees and roll over at 5:09 a.m.

Trybushyn was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was trapped in the accident but freed by West Sparta and Dansville firefighters.

He passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the accident.

Responding members from the Sheriff’s Office were Sergeant James Merrick, Sheriff’s Investigator Josh Monster, Deputy Kevin Geer, and Deputy Bryan Mann with the Forensic Identification Unit.

Emergency personnel that responded to the scene include Livingston County ALS, Dansville Fire Department, Dansville Ambulance, West Sparta Fire Department, and LifeNet air medical.
