GENESEO – This mini-documentary, Why the Eagles Returned, was featured at the Geneseo Riviera courtesy of the Genesee Valley Conservancy on Friday as the final Nature Series event for 2015 sponsored by Steuben Trust Company.
According to Ben Gajewski, Director of the Conservancy, over 150 people watched the 12-minute film and heard a fascinating talk by biologist Peter Nye on the work he did restoring eagles to New York.
“The story is a reminder to us all that we can have a major and positive impact on the local environment,” said Gajewski. “It is the perfect story to share during our 25th anniversary to put in perspective the lasting and positive impact our work will have on the Genesee Valley for generations to come.”
The film walks through a general overview of bald eagle conservation and restoration efforts on a national scale.
Gajewski thanked the Delaware Highlands Conservancy for sharing this film with the Conservancy and the community.
The Conservancy will host more impromptu events over the fall and winter.
