SUNROOM – Thursday afternoon, Conrad Baker had the privilege to speak with Livingston County District Attorney Greg McCaffrey about sex offenses, the law as it pertains to sex crime, and the discrepancy between sentences for different crimes.
DA McCaffrey says that sex crimes are the most sensitive and difficult cases that pass through his office, and lays out the basic philosophy that his office follows when prosecuting crimes of this nature.
There has been mixed feedback from local residents and the legal community towards several recent sex cases.
We do not discuss any pending cases but do discuss the laws surrounding the different plea offers extended to Richard Cassada and Matthew Bennett, two highly publicized sex cases in which both defendants have pled guilty.
