LIVINGSTON COUNTY — County Administrator Ian Coyle delivered a brief seven minute State of the County Speech to the Livingston County Board of Supervisors during Wednesday’s meeting.
The Administrator hi-lighted some of the county’s achievements including a budget that is tax cap compliant as well as a record setting year in county sales tax revenue. Absent from his speech were the two most contentious issues this past year, the Livingston County Jail Deputy time card fraud allegations, which is an ongoing investigation, and the closure of the Leicester Desalination plant.
“The board of supervisors does not shy away from tough challenges and at the end of the day we pride ourselves as a county with ethical decision making and maximum integrity.” said Coyle.
During his address Coyle discussed how challenging budgeting is when 40 percent of the 25 million dollar tax levy is taken out by Medicaid costs. The 2014 balanced budget is $148.9 million.
“We are in this game because we value pubic service and we must never forget that the people of this county own this county Government.” said Coyle.
