GENESEO – Members of the Men’s Geneseo Warthog Rugby Club gathered this past Friday to collectively shave their heads to both raise awareness for cancer and raise donations for this year’s Relay for Life event held at SUNY Geneseo this past Saturday.
The event was held in the lobby of the student union, where attendees could donate a small amount of money to the Warthog’s Relay team in exchange for shaving one of the team members’ heads.
“We had over thirty players shave their heads in order to raise money for our Relay team. It was a great turnout,’ stated William Fugina, a sophomore at SUNY Geneseo and member of the Men’s Rugby Club.
Fugina, who volunteered to coordinate this year’s Relay for Life team for the Warthogs and create the ‘Shave-a-Thon,’ was very ecstatic to hear that the event was well received.
Overall, the Geneseo Men’s Rugby Club’s raised $3,875 towards Relay for Life, with $200 directly contributed from the ‘Shave-a-Thon’ on Friday night.
