LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Justin Walsh, 26, who was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter in a 2007 DWI incident, has been given an additional year to complete the community service requirements of his probation agreement. Walsh’s friend, Chris Paladino, died in the crash.
Walsh was sentenced in August of 2007 to 6 months in Livingston County jail and to complete 1,000 hours of community service within 5 years. According to court records, he has only completed 167 hours. Walsh was ordered back into court for violating the terms of his probation.
In a deal with the court, Walsh had the community service portion of his probation guidelines changed. He now has one additional year to complete the remaining community service obligation, which should be 833 hours, or 16 hours per week.
As part of his community service so far, Walsh has visited schools in the region and given talks to students sharing his experience.
