LIVINGSTON COUNTY — A man who was given a lenient sentence after killing his friend in a drunk driving accident was back in court this week for failing to complete his probation terms.
Justin Walsh, 26, was sentenced to serve 6 months in Livingston County jail and complete 1,000 hours of community service in the death of his childhood friend, Chris Paladino, in an accident that occurred in August of 2007. According to Livingston County District Attorney Gerg McCaffrey, Walsh has only completed 200 hours.
Walsh was given the lenient sentence at the wish of Paladino’s family. If he fails to complete his probation terms he could face up to 7 years in State prison.
As part of his community service, the former Cal-Mum Raider football star has visited some local schools sharing his experience with students in hopes that they do not make the same mistake as he did.
Walsh’s next step is to find a lawyer. He will be back in front of Judge Robert Wiggins on August 14th.
