GENESEO – An irate man trying to buy a hunting license at Walmart apparently flipped his lid and bluffed that he had a gun after waiting too long for service at the sporting goods desk.
Geneseo Police say that Earl Hill, 63, did not in fact have a gun and was calm and cooperative when they arrived alongside State Police.
“Mr. Hill couldn’t find someone to help him, so he grabs the P.A. system and announces to the whole store that he was stealing items, then at the end said ‘I have a gun,'” said Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian. “That was the tipping edge for Walmart, and they called 911.”
Hill was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and is due in Geneseo Town Court on July 14.
“He was fine, more embarrassed than anything else,” said Chief Osganian. “He said nobody was helping him, and he just got frustrated.”
