GENESEO – Purchasing a pack of gum from Walmart with a stolen debit card cost a man a lot more than 50 cents on March 22.
According to a press release from Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian, Sheldon Thompson, 28, was arrested for felony Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree because he bought the gum with a stolen debit card.
Unable to find marketplace offers.
“The card was charged $40.51,” said Osganian. “He bought gum and received cash back.”
Allegedly, Thompson stole a debit type card from another person while staying at April Way, and then used the card at Walmart.
The officer was unable to locate Thompson, so an arrest warrant was issued. Officer Christopher Matteson later arrested Thompson at April Way in the Village of Geneseo.
Thompson was arraigned in Geneseo Court in front of Geneseo Justice Kathleen Houston. Justice Houston ramanded Thompson to the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $250 cash or $500 bond.
