LIVINGSTON COUNTY— The Livingston Cycling Club is nearing its completion of its summer road bike training race series with three events left.
This season Glen Wallace, in his second year of competitive riding, has set the pace from the start already securing the top spot in the A Group.
“We have seen a lot of growth this year with several new riders showing promise,” said Club Founder and President Anthony Sylor. “When we started these training races three years ago we were getting five or six riders and now we have 20 to 25 riders with lots of new fast people.”
The group meets every Tuesday evening at various courses developed by the club throughout the county. Riders compete in a training format that offers two ability groups (A and B). The training events help transition new riders to compete in larger sanctioned events throughout the state as well as help to develop the veteran racers on the Once Again Nut Butter Multi-Sport Race Team, which is also hosted by the LCC.
“Our race team has been very active for the last two seasons,” said Sylor. “I am very excited to see some of the new riders who have come up through the ranks of our training races join that team in 2014.”
In addition to the road race training series, the club hosts a run-bike-run training series on various Thursday nights throughout the summer, totaling 11 races for the year, as well as a non-competitive Social Ride from Cyclepath in Geneseo every Wednesday.
