Walk-In Complaint to Deputies Leads to Felony Contempt Arrest

NUNDA – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Nunda man after investigating a complaint by a woman who walked into Sheriff’s Office headquarters.

According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Jeffrey Johnston, 49, was arrested for felony criminal contempt.

The original complaint came in on July 5 when the woman reported that Johnston was repeatedly contacting her and threatening her.

Deputies located Johnston and took him into custody. The investigation led to his arrest on the felony charge.

Handling the incident for the Sheriff’s Office was Sheriff’s Investigator Brad Schneider, Deputy Bob Holt, and Deputy Jerry Pilkenton.

Johnston was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office has recommended that bail be set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.

Geneseo Village Justice Thomas Bushnell arraigned Johnston and ordered him held on the recommended bail.
