Gregory Cunningham has pleaded guilty to assault, in the unprovoked stabbing of another customer in the Geneseo Wal-Mart on June 9, 2020. He attacked a woman in the back of the store by the dairy case, stabbing her several times. She survived the stabbing, but has suffered broken and chipped bones in her back, arm and shoulder, as well as nerve damage. Originally, Cunningham was charged with attempted murder, second degree.
Cunningham, 25, a Beaver Dams, Schuyler County resident, will be sentenced on June 1, 2021. As part of a plea deal, the anticipated sentence is 20 years in state prison along with post-release supervision and waiving his right to appeal. He is in Livingston County jail, being held without bail until he is sentenced June 1, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.
