GENESEO— The driver of a big red Hummer got a rude awakening when for unknown reasons he ran off of Volunteer Drive and glanced off of a utility pole outside of the Hammocks at Geneseo luxury apartments complex.
According to witnesses, the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, emerged from the car uninjured with the airbags blown and the right side doors crushed. He apparently appeared to be physically OK, but something appeared to be not all right.
“He walked away from it, fortunately,” said Tera Lynch, Leasing Consultant for the Hammocks. “I was at my office there, and suddenly I just hear this noise. I looked outside and he had completely run off the road, hitting a couple of deep bumps and then the pole. He was physically OK, but mentally I don’t know. Something was a little off.”
No part of the Hammocks buildings or property was damaged in the incident. Lynch added that some construction workers working at the Hammocks ran to the scene from their job site to help before Geneseo Fire and EMS arrived.
The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was checked for injuries on scene in a Geneseo EMS ambulance, with a Geneseo Fire engine standing by. Sheriff’s Deputies also assisted on scene.
