Village of Avon Hoping to Improve Farmer’s Market

AVON — The Village of Avon is looking ways to improve their Farmers Market, which is currently held in the parking lot of the Tops Market Plaza.

Previously, the market offered an assortment of fruits and vegetables, farm raised meats, baked goods, flowers, crafts, and organic produce, operating from every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. from July to Mid October.

“We are looking to bring in more vendors for a greater variety,” said organizer Theresa Cole. “We also want to consider changing its location to see if we could better incorporate the Village.

The Village Board stated they were interested in all options, one of the challenges being that so many neighboring villages already have established Farmers Markets.

“On the circle we have a lot of seniors that live there. If we had the market near them it would make fresh goods easily available,” said Mayor Tom Freeman. ” We are always looking at ways to engage our Main Street businesses.”
