AVON — The Village of Avon is considering transitioning from a seven-person planning board to a five-person planning board with an alternate.
During Mondays Village Board meeting Paul Drozdziel, Chairman of the Planning Board, brought up the possibility with the upcoming retirement of Bonnie Taylor Davis and the challenges in finding a suitable replacement.
“Transitioning from a seven-person board to a five-person board is worth looking at,” said Drozdiel. “Sometimes we are close in not having enough members present to have a voting quorum.”
In order for the village to change the number of members they would need to pass a local law. They also discussed the possibility of a 5 member board with no alternate.
The planning board meets monthly where each member makes approximately $40 for attending the meeting, the chairman makes slightly more.
Other Villages in the region, like Geneseo, operate with a five-person planning board.
The Avon Village Planning Board Members currently consist of:
Chairman: Paul M. Drozdziel
Members: Bonnie Taylor-Davis, Bill Wall, Laura Nobles, Kevin O’Donoghue
Planning Board Secretary: Gary Margiotta
