GENESEO – The Village Board of Trustees approved a proposal for a second annual SUNY Geneseo alumni reunion Monday night, for which Board members and representatives from SUNY Geneseo Alumni Relations expressed their enthusiasm.
The representatives proposed repeating last summer’s reunion, setting the event for June 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. on Center Street, occupying the same area sectioned off for the farmers’ market in the summer and early fall.
“Last year’s event looked like a fantastic, successful activity,” said Trustee Bob Wilcox.
According to representatives from the College, 1,100 people attended the reunion last year, with most staying on-campus or in nearby hotels.
Village Board members said that the next step is working out the logistics of shutting down Center Street, but said they would follow up with the representatives as more people registered and they had an idea of the numbers of participants.
Registration for the reunion is available online until May 1 for those seeking on-campus housing, and until May 22 for those with lodging plans elsewhere.
