AVON – The Van Son family, whose home continues to be threatened by flood damage, is holding a fundraiser to help rebuild their property.
The Van Son family home at 4738 Littleville Road has been threatened since Mothers Day by the backyard slowly sliding away from the foundation towards the nearby Conesus Lake outlet, and Ted Van Son Jr. says that the family still needs trucks and dirt to rebuild the bank before winter.
“First, we need it to stop raining,” said Van Son Jr. “We need trucks to haul dirt, we need all different kinds of dirt. We need to rebuild the bank. It’s all in finalizing it before the winter. We just need the people, the trucks, and the materials. With the help, we can get it done straight through. And people are donating money, and that’s what helps provide the materials.”
The fundraiser will be held by Van Son Jr.’s cousin, Carrie Harris on Sunday, July 12, from noon until 7 p.m. at the Avon Commons Banquet Hall on Collins Street behind McDonald’s.
The fundraiser will include a chicken barbeque, raffles, music, a bounce house, a balloon lady, a bake sale, and a basket auction.
Ted Van Son took special note that any rumors that the family will be bulldozing the house are not true.
