Gary Smith, charged with ’83 rape, remanded without bail

GENESEO — It has been over 20 years since Gary Smith, 66, saw a Livingston County courtroom but today he found himself back there to face the charges that date back to an alleged horrific rape in 1983,

In 1983, Smith was indicted on charges of Rape 1st, Sodomy 1st, and Kidnapping 2nd.Smith jumped bail in 1986 and has until now successfully evaded authorities.

According to Livingston County Court Officials, Smith was remanded without bail and is due back in court on June 18th at 9:30 a.m. to appear with an attorney.

Smith’s previous defense Attorney was Randy Meyer but is now seeking a Public Defender due to his limited finannicial income.
