Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of two Livingston County residents on felony and misdemeanor charges following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
On May 15th, 2023 members of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a business in the Town of Avon for the report of a larceny that had occurred on May 12th, 2023, involving a stolen John Deere Lawn Tractor valued at over $5,000.
Through the course of the investigation, the suspects were identified as Jeffrey J. Walker, age 26 of Springwater, and Ronald A. Chittenden, age 40 of Avon. It is alleged that Walker was a current employee of the business at the time of the larceny. It is also alleged that Chittenden assisted Walker with stealing the lawn tractor from his employer.
On May 19th, 2023, Sheriff’s Investigators did recover the stolen tractor in the Town of Rush in Monroe County. Sheriff’s Investigators later located and arrested both Walker and Chittenden in the Town of Avon.
Walker was arrested and charged with felony Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree. Walker was additionally charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the Second Degree.
Chittenden was arrested and charged with felony Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree.
Both subjects were transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charges. It was recommended that both subjects be released on their own recognizance, as the charges do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform.
The investigation was handled by members of the Criminal Investigations Division and the Patrol Division.
