GROVELAND — A family trip to Niagara Falls was derailed for Ankit V. Vora, 24, from Mumbai, India, when Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a citizen’s traffic complaint on Interstate 390 in the town of Groveland.

According to a report from Livingston County Sheriff, Thomas Dougherty, Deputies responded to an initial report of a Mercedes SUV traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. Deputy Brent Gibbs located the vehicle on Interstate 390 in the Town of Groveland. Deputy Gibbs allegedly observed the vehicle traveling in excess of 115 mph while passing several vehicles and driving in the center of road, using both lanes.
Vora, who was traveling with his parents in the rental vehicle on their way to visit Niagara Falls, was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Vora was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving, and two counts of Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd degree, as well as a speeding ticket for 115 mph.
Vora was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. Vora was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail (LCCAP) before Leicester Town Justice Rich White. The Judge did remand Vora to the custody of the Sheriff on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
