Hello Lima! Spring has arrived, sun is shining as I write this. We are finishing up the last bits of the construction, but the temporary lift was removed on March 18th and the elevator is operational! This allows us to use the top floor space for public meetings now. Seating capacity is 168 including the stage and balcony areas. You can book the use of the facility through the Town Clerk, 582-1130. Flooring materials are delayed. Once the trim and carpet are complete, we will schedule a ribbon cutting.
Congratulations to new Village of Lima Mayor John Skiptunas! As of this writing the results of the trustee positions are not official. The new board will be sworn in on April 5th.
The Lima Planning Board is discussing the renovation of the exterior of the Save a lot building with the new potential owners, Empire Development. The real estate transaction is held up pending a building permit. You can always get the meeting minutes from the Town web site www.lima-ny.org – the zoom meetings have the audio recordings and transcripts. In person meetings are standard minutes. They have also been discussing a new proposed deck on the east side of Fanatics.
The George France construction is moving along. Plumbing is now complete. Now to the balance of the interior renovations. Tentative opening is at the end of June.
Like apples? Save the seeds. Wrap them in a damp paper towel & place them in a plastic bag in your fridge (unsealed for breathing). Keep them damp. 6 weeks later, unwrap and plant the germinating seeds. Think of it as apple roulette. You cannot predict what kind of apples the trees will yield. They may be great eating apples or the sour spitters (used for cider and vinegar). Who knows, you might grow the next great apple that everyone will want or they may feed the wildlife. 8 years from seed to apples, so site them wisely…
We are still collecting signatures for the Bragg/Doran 5&20 online petition. Lend your voice to the others who have signed so that the intersection can be made safer. You can find the link on the Town web site.
Town Clean Up Days will be May 21 & 22, 8am to 2pm. You will need a ticket from the Town Clerk to participate. We will be doing an electronics collection as part of this (Lima residents only). Bring your old TVs & computers. Some restrictions apply. See the Town web site for details.
We are overdue for a dog survey. The Town Board will be discussing at the April 6th meeting.
Happy Easter, see you around Town.
