Report written by Mr. Falk
Hello Lima, we are climbing out of the COVID 19 pit back toward normal operations.
If there are no hiccups, we will cross the last threshold in time for July. Speaking of which, the July 4th the annual fireworks display is a 50/50 partnership between the Town and Village. The Village is the contracting authority with the fireworks company. The Village Board decided to cancel the fireworks until next year. I do not agree with the decision. My view is that the park could have been closed, residents sit on their own lawns or in their cars and watch the display, regardless of our opening status. Look for a much larger display next year.
Congratulations to Mayor Carl Luft on his retirement after decades of community service. The Village Board appointed John Correll to act as Mayor until the election is held in September.
George Stotts, the new owner of the George France restaurant is working diligently on the building. The plan is to be open before July with Pizza and ice cream.
Jonny B’s custom BBQ renovation of the Ellis Block is proceeding. The takeout kitchen should be open in just a few weeks, with the Dining room to follow.
The Annual German Festival in June is officially cancelled. There was just no way to hold it and be compliant with the Governor’s re-opening plan.
The Town held a successful mask handout in May. If you did not receive any, call the Town clerk at 582-1130 to arrange to get a package for your home or business.
The Livingston County Board of Supervisors approved suspending the foreclosure process until 2021.
Fanatics will be holding drive in style concerts in the parking lot each Tuesday starting June 2nd. You must have a reservation in advance. Contact them at 624-2080 for details.
The Annual Crossroads Blues Festival is still planned for July 31- Aug 2nd. Mark your calendars now. You can always check out the latest Festival news at https://limabluesfest.com/
Town clean up days are June 19 & 20. You do need a ticket. Call the Town clerk at 582-1130 to get your ticket mailed to you. Rules on what you can bring are on the Town Web site at www.lima-ny.org
Good things are coming, we will get through this. See you around Town.
