AVON— The Town of Avon has dedicated a wall in the town hall to hometown men and women who serve in the military.
This Wall of Honor was thought of by Town Clerk Sharon Knight and her committee of parents and veterans who fought to have the wall.
“I asked the Board if we could do this and they said ‘we just moved in here; we just painted the walls. No, no, no,'” said Knight. “So, I got a committee together of people who had children who were serving in the military and some veterans and so the committee asked the Board if we can make the wall and the Board said, “Ok, we can’t say no now.”
Families that are interested in having their loved ones displayed on the wall, can bring a picture of the service member to the town hall. The committee will add them to the wall with the symbol of the branch they serve in, along with information that is provided.
“I just love it. I’m very proud of it,” said Knight. “I share it with everyone I can.”
