LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Livingston County Sheriff Investigator Tom Dougherty has announced his candidacy for Sheriff in the November, 2013 election.
The long-term incumbent, Sheriff John York, has not yet announced if he will be seeking re-election.
“My combined experience of over sixteen years in the public and the private sectors gives me a unique outlook on managing a county department,” Dougherty said.
In his announcement, Dougherty, who is a registered Republican, said he will bring a fresh approach to the office, which needs improvements in fiscal responsibility and management to lessen the burden on the taxpayers. He also stated in the press release that he would maintain and build on the department’s rigorous focus on community safety, while insuring Deputy safety as well.
“Money is a problem in every county,” Investigator Dougherty stated in a press release. “We have to work together with the County Administrator, the Board of Supervisors, and our law enforcement unions to find ways to make sure the job gets done well, while being accountable to the taxpayers.”
