NYLON – According to the New York State Thruway Authority, high-volume highways are suffering under the unseasonably high volumes of snow the Buffalo Area received Monday night and Tuesday morning.
The Thruway Authority reported Tuesday night that on I-190 Niagara Thruway southbound, between I-290 Youngmann Highway Exit 16 and I-90 Exit 53 and the start of Niagara Thruway, the road is completely closed to traffic.

The Thruway authority says that drivers should be prepared for severe weather on I-90 NYS Thruway in both directions between Ripley Exit 61 and I-390 Rochester Exit 46.
Drivers should also be prepared for heavy snow on I-90 NYS Thruway in both directions between Ripley Exit 61 and I-390 Rochester, Exit 46.
Also this week, roads will be closed due to roadwork during the day Wednesday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Thursday 7 a.m. to 3p.m.
Daytime lane closures will be in place for bridge work between Exit 57 Eden, and Exit 58 Silver Creek eastbound Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 2p.m.
Westbound, Lane Closures will be set Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday 7 a.m. to noon.
Daytime Alternating Lane Closures will be in place for mobile road work east and westbound between Exit 59 Dunkirk, and Exit 58 Silver Creek, through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Interstate 190, a right lane closure will remain in place until further notice from the Thruway Authority on the Porter Avenue Off-Ramp, Exit 9 southbound. The ramp will remain open at all times. Additionally, a right lane closure will remain in place until further notice on the Peace Bridge-Porter Avenue Off-Ramp Exit 9 northbound. The ramp will remain open at all times.
