ROCHESTER —An Administrative Business Major from SUNY Geneseo who had an amazing run as a contestant on The Voice, Austin Giorgio, will be performing for a sold-out crowd at the Geva Theater on Aug 4 at 8 p.m.
Giorgio has had a love of music, particularly smooth jazz, from a young age. Growing up he would listen to and sing along with his father, who was a jazz singer for a number of local venues throughout Rochester. The singer is scheduled to graduate from SUNY Geneseo this December.
“If not for my father, I would not be a singer,” said Giorgio in the biographical portion of his website. “My father, being a jazz singer himself, was constantly singing around the house as well as various clubs around town. My mother, sister and I would spend the weekends watching him play out at local restaurants and live shows.”
Despite his love of music and signing, Giorgio put his performing on hold to start his own business, Bikelyf, which he continues to run successfully. After a year of occasionally performing sets with his father, Giorgio began to post videos of himself covering his favorite classics. Since then, Giorgio has performed for numerous private events and recently was a contestant on NBC’s The Voice.
Giorgio will be accompanied by a five-piece band featuring Rochester praised pianist Mike Van Allen. Giorgio will be performing songs he sang during his time on NBC’s The Voice, as well as both traditional and modern arrangements of songs from yesterday such as “Fly Me to The Moon” and “Almost Like Being in Love”.
