A DEC grant has been awarded to Avon for the taking of an inventory of all Village street trees as well as trees in the Village Parks. Dr. Chris Luley, Ph.D., President of Urban Forest Diagnostics and consultant to the Village of Avon for this project will be collecting qualitative data on each tree. Each tree has already been located on a tree data software with a GPS location. Once all the trees have been surveyed on the streets and in the mowed areas of the Village Parks Dr. Luley will create a management plan for the Village to follow going forward to preserve and protect the beautiful asset of trees. The actual collecting of data by Dr. Luley will be on the streets of the Village starting at the end of May into early June. The management plan that results from this will ultimately be presented to the Village Board and the public.
