GENESEO — A car struck the restored bear fountain exactly one week after it was re-installed.
The driver of the vehicle was uninjured. The new granite basin was scratched and scuffed but did not crack.
“I was turning left off the side street and I just didn’t see it,” said the driver of the vehicle, who asked not to be named. “I knew it was there but for some reason just didn’t see it.”
The impact could be heard blocks away.
No first responders were called to the scene.
