AVON — Tension arose at the Village of Avon’s board meeting Monday night as concerns about the events of Avon’s Senior Bash were discussed.
The tradition of temporary graffiti in an public place by the outgoing Senior Class has been a tricky situation for years but recent years a more controled approach has helped calmed community tension.
One such Avon resident is still not satisfied with the contorolled graffiti and voiced his conern over the matter in Monday’s Village Board meeting.
“It is an eye sore, the kids are too loud,” said the resident asking his identity not be published. “It attracts kids to come to the location of the graffiti at late night hours.”
The Avon Village Mayor is pleased the the situation is under control and not a rapant night of chaos.
“By allowing the kids to spray paint in this location, I notice they don’t paint vulgar graffiti elsewhere,” said Mayor Freeman.
A suggestion was made to simply move the location of the graffiti, however the agenda for the night has already been made for this year.
“The system works, for next year we will look into an alternate location,” said Freeman.
The ending result was a compromise made by Freeman. The compromise for this year is that the duration of the graffiti will be shorter this year spanning from June 21 until July 8.
