Teen Drowns in Springwater Pond

An 18-year old man, Emmanuel Hershberger, drowned Thursday, June 1, shortly after 1:30 p.m., as he swam in a pond with his family.

Family members said he was swimming with another family member, seemed to have some difficulty swimming, then went under water, and never resurfaced.  The sheriff’s underwater team recovered the teen’s body later that afternoon.

Springwater Fire Department and Livingston County EMS also respoded to the scene on Carney Hollow Road.
