GENESEO — SUNY Geneseo announced their athletes of the week and for the men it’s David Szmyd who skates on frozen water and the women it’s Samantha Reichman who dives into water.
David Szmyd, Men’s Ice Hockey
Major: Economics
Szmyd scored twice in the Knights’ SUNYAC semifinal victory over Buffalo State and added the game-winning goal and two assists in the SUNYAC Championship as Geneseo defeated Fredonia, 7-1, to earn the conference title. With three goals and two assists in two postseason games, Szmyd was named SUNYAC Tournament MVP.
Samantha Reichman, Women’s Swimming & Diving
Major: Biology
At the NCAA Regional Diving Championships, Reichman posted a 454.90 on the one-meter board and placed sixth on the three-meter (460.70) to earn her first berth to the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. Reichman will join 11 other Geneseo student-athletes to compete at the national meet, beginning March 21 in Indianapolis, Ind.
