GENESEO – Geneseo has a new sweet spot now that the wrapping has come off for Sweet Arts Bakery in Geneseo, formerly a mysterious facade hidden behind wooden boards.

The spacious, sunny shop is owners Ruth Ann and Bryan Lewis’ chance to offer handmade pastries, desserts, and creative treats to Geneseo, along with some coffee options.
“We are bringing something new to the area,” said Ruth Ann Lewis. “I am really excited to be a barista, and that we will have authentic espresso drinks.”
The Lewis’ have occupied a table at the Geneseo farmers market in past years, selling cake pops, cupcakes and sweets, and found that their goods were big hits among the college crowd.
The renovated space includes seating for plenty. The Lewis’ say their official first day in business will be Thursday, Feb. 12.
Goods were fittingly dominated by chocolaty cheesecakes, and brownies of all kinds during Saturday’s Chocofrolic festival, but employees reassured customers that the offerings will be diversified once the shop officially opens on Thursday.
Geneseo’s is the second location for Sweet Arts, the first of which opened on Genesee Street in Avon in 2011.
