LEICESTER – Several deep potholes on the bridge going over the Genesee River have been repaired by the New York State department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and no longer pose a threat to tires passing over the bridge.
These potholes on 20A (Cuylerville Road) over the Genesee River in the Town of Leicester were severe enough that Sheriff Thomas Dougherty issued a traffic alert via Facebook Thursday evening, March 26.
“The bridge on USHWY 20A over the Genesee River in the Town of Leicester (aka Cuylerville Rd) has sizeable pot holes which are capable of producing tire damage,” said the alert. “Please use caution when crossing this bridge. NYS DOT has been notified of this issue and stated they will fix it ASAP.”
By the end of the day on Thursday, a crew with the Livingston County NYSDOT Transportation Maintenance Office had indeed patched the potholes, and traffic now continues smoothly over the bridge.
