GENESEO – A Mount Morris man was arrested by Geneseo Police on Wednesday after community tips identified him as the person seen on home surveillance video creeping around a home on Livingston Street at the time of a larceny.
According to a press release from Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian, Officer Benjamin Swanson arrested Darryl Stuart, 49, of Mount Morris, for Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, an E felony, Petit Larceny, an A misdemeanor, and Trespassing, a Violation at a residence on Livingston Street.
“The homeowner has a video surveillance system, which captured video of Stuart during the incident,” said Chief Osganian. “We received a major lead on this case after the video was posted on the GeneseeSun.com. Numerous calls identifying Stuart were made to the police department.”
Allegedly, on July 25 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Stuart stole about $130 of items from inside a motor vehicle on Livingston Street and also trespassed on the porch.
The homeowner discovered that Seneca cigarettes, a black wallet, a debit card, and cash were stolen from a vehicle, and submitted the below raw footage to Geneseo Police. The raw video below shows a man suspected to be Stuart approaching the residence at the 4:32:53 a.m. mark.
Stuart is scheduled to appear in Geneseo Village Court at a later date.
