WEST SPARTA -A Livingston County man has been charged with disturbingly murdering his neighbor’s dog after allegedly shooting them.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Andrew R. Keiffer, 42, was arrested after a six month investigation into the shooting where he allegedly shot his neighbors two pet dogs, killing one and seriously wounding the other.
“The arrest was handled with caution by Sergeant Matthew Orman, Deputy Ryan Swanson and Deputy Ryan Dale along with other members of the Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Dougherty in a press release, “due to threatening statements that Keiffer allegedly made to a New York State Trooper on a State Police arrest last week. ”
The apparently hot tempered Keiffer was arraigned in the West Sparta Town Court on the charge of Felony Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and remanded to the Custody of the Sheriff on bail.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article misquoted Sheriff Dougherty about Keiffer’s involvement with goat killings in West Sparta. Geneseesun.com has retracted this false information and apologizes for the mistake.
