Ryan Wicker, age 17 from Geneseo, was arrested by Geneseo officer Benjamin Swanson for Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, for allegedly damaging a parked motor vehicle on Main Street with a key, and for Petit Larceny, for allegedly stealing property on Oak Street.
Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian said that they interviewed Wicker thoroughly, and believe that he did steal on Oak Street and several other residences in the Village, based on statements Wicker gave. However, Geneseo Police do not believe that Wicker is responsible for the series of car burglaries that occurred on Oak, Highland and Second Streets last week.
Police say they found a stolen bicycle at his residence in Geneseo, along with several other items that have not yet been claimed by victims.
Wicker was arraigned in front of Geneseo Justice Thomas Bushnell and then remanded to the Livingston County Jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
The Geneseo Police Department’s investigation into the car burglaries is still ongoing.
NOTE: A previous version of this story stated that Wicker was a suspect in the series of car burglaries that occurred August 12th.
