AVON — A local man has been charged with the attempted robbery of the CVS in Avon.
According to a press release from Livingston County Undersheriff James Szczesniak and the Village of Avon Police Chief James Noble, Avon resident John Rauchbauer, 32, was arraigned in The Village of Avon Court and was remanded to the Livingston County jail on $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond on charges of attemepted robbery.
The bold event earlier this week resulted in the Avon Central School going into a ‘Lock In’ status and multiple police check points going in and out of the Village.
According to the press release Rauchbauer allegedly passed a note to a pharmacist demanding dilaudid and oxycontin or he would “start shooting”. Multiple agencies responded to the scene to assist the Avon Police Department. The first unit on location was Officer Brian Wade of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Additional personnel arrived shortly thereafter and learned that the suspect had fled prior to obtaining the narcotics.
