PIFFARD — A local bar owner’s disappearance after Super Bowl Sunday, with rumored financial problems and approximately $50,000 in missing Super Bowl board money, has left patrons feeling hustled.
Numerous independent sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, have stated that the owner of the Wadsworth Grill, Karen Uhl, left a note on her bar door apologizing for taking patrons’ board winnings and saying that she would ‘never be seen again.’
The bar had at least five Super Bowl boards, with 100 squares on each board, and an estimated value of up to $300 per square.
According to patrons that were at the Wadsworth Grill for their Super Bowl party, one customer had thought he had won $3,000, and bought the bar drinks on his credit card. Traditionally, winners are not paid the night they win, and he was told by Uhl that he would be able to collect his cash winnings the next day.
In 2008, the Wadsworth Grill was damaged in a fire and later restored, thanks to the efforts of those in the community, and many donated time and materials to keep the local establishment in business.
The disappearance of Uhl leaves numerous people without their winnings, and others without employment.
The bar was closed today, with the lights turned off. Earlier today Livingston County Sheriffs Deputies could be seen on the property.
