GENESEO – The SUNY Geneseo Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams will be heading to Genesee Valley Park this weekend in hopes of taking Regional Titles.
As of November 5 2014, the SUNY Geneseo men are ranked 9th Nationally heading into the race, the women a healthy 5th in Division 3. This comes after the teams won dual SUNYAC titles at SUNY Brockport.

“On the women’s side, I think it’s going to pan out like a dual meet between us and St. Lawrence,” said Assistant Coach Dan Moore. “St. Lawrence is currently ranked ahead of the women on the National scene, so we are going to go after them.”
Coach Moore feels the men’s race will take a different turn. He mentioned that there are more competitive teams in men’s cross country than the women’s, so the event will not feel like a dual meet.
“It is going to be a great battle for the men,” added Moore. “They have prepared all season to punch their ticket to the NCAA Championship, and I know they will do just that.”
Head Coach Mike Woods is also optimistic in their chances of victory.
“The men’s and women’s teams are ranked second in the Atlantic Region,” said Head Coach Mike Woods. “I think we are better than that.”
Both teams have been on fire this season, with the women winning the Pre-National Meet, the men finishing in second place. Head Coach Mike Woods, who was recently named SUNYAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach of the year is looking to add yet another victory to his resume.
In the 2013 Regional races, the men took 3rd place, falling only behind SUNY Cortland(1), and NYU(2).
The women finished 4th last year behind NYU(1), St. Lawrence(2), and TCNJ(3).
The Atlantic Regionals will be held Saturday, November 15 at Genesee Valley Park. The races begin at 11 a.m.
