HOUGHTON – The SUNY Geneseo Track and Field teams competed at Houghton this past weekend.
Both teams turned in excellent performances before the end of the year, setting them up nicely for the next part of the season.
“This was a great season opener, coming together as a team” said Assistant Coach Dan Moore. “Both the Men’s and the Women’s teams are the defending indoor conference champions, and we are in a great spot to defend our titles.”
Starting things off for the Women, Kylee O’Hara won the 5,000 Meter run. Katherine McCormack took third place in the Women’s 1 Mile run, with a time of 5:37.54.
Erin MacDougall won the Women’s 60 Meter hurdles, while Laura Bamford won the Women’s 600 Meter run. Laura Zopf, Shannon Haggerty, and Kayla Barber also took first, second and third respectivley in the Women’s 300 meter dash.
In Field action, Shayna Held took second in the Women’s Long Jump, while Lauren Piazza took second in the Pole Vault.
For the Men, Austin Cutler took third place in the Men’s 60 Meter Hurdles. The Knights also took the first two spots in the Men’s 600 Meter run, with Zach Hannahoe and Sam Napoli taking first, and second respectively.
Luke Holtzman, Colin Beasor and Matthew Sayre took first, second, and third respectivley in the Men’s 3000 Meter Run.
Jacob Converse won the Men’s High Jump as well for the Knights.

The teams will next compete at the RIT Invitational. The meet will take place after the New Year on Saturday, January 13th.
