GENESEO – The SUNY Geneseo women’s swimming & diving team defeated RIT’s Tigers 157-128 on Saturday.
Junior Emily Gibbons and sophomore Emily Smith won two events each and played a key role in winning the 200-medley relay (1:53.92) along with junior Julie Holloway and sophomore Emily Jaworski. Jaworski also placed first in the 100m breaststroke (1:10.07).
Gibbons recorded the fastest times of the meet in the 200m butterfly (2:14.45) and the 200m individual medley (2:17.25). Other key contributions to SUNY Geneseo’s victory came from senior Katherine Jesaitis who recorded the day’s quickest time in the 200m breaststroke (2:41.83) and junior Kala Wilkins who won the 200m freestyle (2:03.91).
Junior Caroline Gardner led the way for a Geneseo sweep of the top four places in the afternoon’s diving events, followed by sophomore Claudia Kolakowski in second place, and freshmen Anna Rovetto and Emily Reiter in third and fourth place, respectively.
Geneseo’s next match-up will take place at home against Monroe Community College on Wednesday, January 14 at 6p.m.
